Abstract : The present investigation focuses on the study of problem solving ability among the matriculation school students of Cuddalore district. Normative survey method has been used to collect data. By using random sampling technique 644 IX standard matriculation school students have been chosen and involved in this study. The collected data has been studied and subjected to statistical analysis. The results revealed that (i) the problem solving ability of students is low in matriculation schools at Cuddalore district. (ii) This investigation also reveals that there is no significant difference in respect of the sub samples, type of family, mother?s education, father?s occupation and mother?s occupation, while in respect of gender, locality, fathers? education and parental monthly income there is significant difference on their problem solving ability |

Abstract : This study examines the significant difference between the level of test anxiety and Self-actualization of higher secondary school. The study correlates certain demographic variables in respect of test anxiety and self - actualization. The level of test anxiety is found to be low among the higher secondary students. The self - actualization of the higher secondary students is found to be high. There is an inverse correlation between test anxiety and self – actualization. |

Abstract : The study investigated Secondary School students? environmental awareness, concern to protect environment for future generation and the source of information about the environment. Sample size comprised of Forty five students. Five subjects from each Std 8, 9 and 10 were selected through convenient sampling technique from one CBSE, one Matriculation and one State Board School in Chennai city. They were assessed using ten questions about environmental awareness, concern for protecting environment and source of information about environment from “Sport and Environment Awareness Questionnaire" developed by NPO GLOBAL SPORTS ALLIANCE (GSA) in September 2011. Results indicate that the students of Matriculation Schools have better environmental awareness compared with CBSE and State Board students of Std 8, 9 and 10.The students of Matriculation Schools have better concern for protecting environment for future generation compared with CBSE and State Board students. The students get better source of information about environment from TV and Newspaper compared with internet, books, magazines and notice board. |

Abstract : The present study has focused on identifying the parenting styles of parents and comparing the stress and self-esteem of the two different parenting styles. The main objective of the study was to identify the stress level and self-esteem among the parents and compare the level of stress and selfesteem between parents of authoritarian and authoritative parenting styles. The study considered a sample of 200 in which 120 men and 80 were women who were having adolescent children in palakkad district. The tools used for the study were parenting style inventory, stress questionnaire by Preethi. C and Rosa M.C (2010) and self-esteem inventory by Pramod (2006). The results indicated that there was a difference in the stress and self-esteem between two different parenting styles and there was an inverse relation between stress and self-esteem among parents. |

Abstract : The present study aims to investigate the self-control of D.T.Ed., Teacher Trainees with respect to gender and optional subjects of study. 400 D.T.Ed., Teacher Trainees in Vellore city in Tamil nadu state were taken as sample. For obtaining data, the self-control scale was constructed and validated by the investigators (2012).The findings of the study suggest that there is a significant difference between the self-control of male and female D.T.Ed., Teacher Trainees. The entire sample of the D.T.Ed., Teacher Trainees was found to have medium level of self-control and high level of self-control was found to female D.T.Ed., Teacher Trainees. |

Abstract : This paper posits an online supplementary model embracing essential elements of global competency that can be infused in existing teacher education programs in response to the arousing demand placed in the global scenario. The paper discusses the determinants of this emerging demand through varied viewpoints and discusses the reason to develop globally competent teachers in India for our future teachers must be equipped to be productive and effectual in such environments triggered by globalization and also for the successful capitalization of India„s enormous man-power. Also this paper lists the essential elements of a globally competent teacher required to function in a global environment .This paper also proposes how this online supplementary model incorporated in the teacher preparation programs, by showcasing the best educational practices around the globe, apart from its feasibility, creates opportunity for the future teachers to get introduced to pedagogical skills from sources around the world; to gain knowledge of a range of global issues; to appreciate and recognize multiple viewpoints; to help them evolve with multitude of innovative educational activities subsequently aiding them to function in the global environment.
